Great 'dive' bar without some of the gross. Wonderful bartenders and ambiance. I don't know how to describe it, yes the inside is gorgeous but I suppose it's that combined with the patrons that make this place awesome.

A ran down bar with great potential in a historic neighborhood, that needs a renovation bad.
The one time I came to grab a drink with friends an older (in her 50s) slow moving female bartender was more occupied giving free drinks to her group of friends and drinking a quick shot with them, then serving me and my 2 friends. She also messed up my order. I wanted vodka tonic. Not vodka soda.
Fixing my order was nearly impossible since there were other people whose drinks she had to make and were also annoyed for not being served in a timely manner. By the time she would have gotten to us - it would have been 20 minutes. :/
Drinks are on the pricier side too.
I like the half circle shape bar and the mural. I can see the charm in the vibe but the bartender, the speed, and the not so clean everything was a turn off. -

You had to be there...a long time ago, the bartender was infamous. He was in Herb Caen's ( ask your parents) column as a grump and a moody and challenging guy. And! His Martinis were divine. The bar was always packed...fun place to quaff...
Walked in awhile back. The magic has lifted...yes the decor is tres cool. -

Go here. Don't ask questions. Just go and order a martini. You're welcome. Goodbye.
PS- don't read anymore reviews. Just read this one. -

Nice little bar. Cash only-- so be aware of that (but there is an ATM machine in there). Funky with a Arabic sort-of feel. The bartender when I was there, Simon, was nice and pretty attentive even though he was the only one working.
Everyone - seriously EVERYONE - was getting martinis, so we got them as well. They were good, the people watching was good, and it had a nice vibe.
No TV, so no sports bar feel. Just dark and funky.
I'd stop in for a drink again, if I have the cash :-)
